Multimedia Reporter/Writer, MSP Success Magazine  


Mission of the Position: To create print/digital content that propels the MSP Success multimedia brand to be the most influential in the MSP Channel. 
  

Top KPI and Key Result:  

Create compelling, accurate, and action-driven print and digital content for MSP Success magazine on daily, weekly, monthly, and bi-monthly deadlines in support of the division's goals for increased web traffic, opt ins, subscribers, and followers.  
  

Responsibilities:  

Produce 4-6 articles per week, on deadline, per the direction of the Executive Editor. Articles must meet or exceed the quality standard as set by MSP Success magazine. AP guidelines knowledge is a plus.

Create relationships that allow you to source unique and timely stories in the MSP space, especially in the marketing and entrepreneur lanes.

Research companies, people, data, and trends to determine which content to extract, who to interview, and how to position the story in the voice of MSP Success magazine.

Interview multiple sources for articles ranging from marketing and entrepreneurship to MSP challenges and IT security risks. Individuals may be celebrities, CEOs, IT experts, marketing experts, industry experts, or man on the street.

Review copy and cross-check against existing content to correct errors in fact, content, grammar, and punctuation before sending for review to Executive Editor. 

Be a maverick in the breaking news arena, staying current on MSP, IT, marketing, entrepreneurial, and business trends happening RIGHT NOW. 

Break news on the editorial side of the house and then quickly pivot to inform and work with marketing to get that news on our channels.

Work very closely with the Digital Marketing Specialist of MSP Success magazine to publish content that will grow subscribers, followers, traffic, and overall influence in the IT industry. 

Contribute to the print and digital publication calendars; the what, when, where, and how is content being distributed.  

Attend editorial meetings to pitch content for both print and digital platforms.  

Stay up-to-date with MSP industry news, happenings and trends and regularly produce timely, factual and quality content that reports on it. 

Work with the Executive Editor on ways to grow subscribers, opt ins, followers, etc. with content.

Regularly review data from website traffic, email, surveys, and social media to identify trends in content consumption and then make content adjustments as needed. 

Travel to and attend industry events to report on and create content about for the magazine. 





Requirements & Skills:  

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. 

Minimum 2-4 years of journalism or related experience at a business, industry or tech magazine, or covering a business or tech beat for a general publication. Knowledge of the IT channel is a plus.

Excellent communication and relationship skills with the ability to forge and maintain sources. 

Ability to think outside the box is a must. 

Proficiency with computers, technology, and various project management software systems. 

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks and platforms. 

Work standard weekday hours with the ability to cover breaking news outside of normal business hours as needed. 

Ability to travel six times per year to industry events.
